How To Reuse Cable Ties To Cut Costs

Cable ties are very useful equipment to help you keep your cords organized and neat. Lose electrical wires can cause someone to trip or get electrocuted. If the wires are not secured in place, this can also cause some problems with your electronics if lose cables cause a short circuit. There are different kinds of ties such as nylon, plastic and stainless steel cable ties.

You can use these tools to keep cables behind computers and entertainment centers tangle free and neat. They are easy to use and have a lot of aesthetic benefits. You can simply stick the ties into one end of lose cables or loop a Velcro tie around a bunch of wires. Cinch up the ties and hook them up to the wall or any practical surface.

Some ties are also reusable unlike cheap versions that are only good for one use. You can also reuse cable ties to save on costs. Simply pull out the wires from the ties by loosening the toes first with a screw driver. These can be easily done for plastic or nylon versions. Velcro variations are typically reusable due to the ease of securing them.

Stainless steel cable ties may be more difficult or impossible to reuse though. Once steel ties are cinched and in place, it might be necessary to destroy or cut them to get the cables out. Once they are cut, it will be impossible to reuse them efficiently. Steel ties are very tough and meant to keep wires in place for a very long time.

Another thing you can do to be able to reuse these tools is to secure them loosely. You don’t really need to cinch them too tightly to keep cables secure. Another advantage of loosely tying them is the ability to easily adjust or remove wires in case you make a mistake setting them up. You don’t have to cut the cable ties to make adjustments or to reuse them later on.
